Repair of a butterfly valve sealing at Génissiat

The PXL team was on site at CNR Génissiat to replace a section of the lens seal on the valve of unit G1.

The PXL team was on site at CNR Génissiat to replace a section of the lens seal on the valve of unit G1.  This butterfly valve, which has a diameter of 5 metres, is fitted with a polyurethane seal designed in the PXL SEALS design office and which we installed in 2014.

The seal was damaged over an area of around 4 ml.  Our team's on-site assessment showed that only the damaged area needed to be replaced and that the rest of the seal was intact.

Once the feasibility of the operation had been validated, PXL extracted the defective part and replaced it with a length of new gasket.  As with any lens seal assembly, it was then necessary to take into account the measurements made in the field and refine the dimensions of the seal to ensure sealing.
